I am Handy in a Drought
Let's see...do you want the good news or the bad news first?
Wait, what am I thinking? What good news?
My ovaries are currently 11.5 centimeters each, or in inches, "fucking enormous". I have free fluid in my abdomen in pockets approximately the same size as my ovaries. I am popping percocet like tictacs and they seem about as effective at managing the pain. It is becoming increasingly difficult to pee. I gained seven pounds in six days. I look about four to five months pregnant, which is sure going to be a lot of fun when I return to work this week.
I guess the good news is that we no longer have to worry about whether or not I'm going to get OHSS. The only question still in play is 'How much worse is this going to get?'
Oh gosh, I hope that you recover soon. I had a touch of OHSS in '04...and OUCH! Take very good care of yourself and take it very easy.
Hugs,
Kate

Crap. Just sounds awful. I'd type more but I have a large cat on me . . . sending cheesy hugs . . . .

Jesus H. I'm officially worried. I wish I had some concrete advice to give, but it sounds like you are on top of your symptoms. I just hope you can get the care you need. Keep us posted...

I'm sorry, and I'm worried. Please start feeling better soon, okay? Then I can stop worrying (yes, this is all about me.)

So sorry that you are feeling like crap. Please take care of yourself.

Sorry to hear what you're going thru, sounds awful. Will you still be able to proceed with a transfer? How are your embryos going?
Posted by: Sparkle | January 15, 2006 at 09:43 PM
I'm sorry you are having to go through this. I had a moderate case of OHSS during my first IVF cycle this past December. Not a lot of fun. But I'm living proof that one can gain 24 pounds in three days, look 9 months pregnant with not a frickin' thing to show for it (chose not to transfer any and decided to freeze all), have the ugliest (as you would say) "flippy-flaps" known to man during the process and still survive. Just hang tight and it will be over soon!

Sounds awful. I assume this means they are freezing eveything? How are the embryos looking?
Hoping that you can stave off some of the worst case scenarios with electrolytes and rest.

Sounds like you are absolutely miserable. I hope this gets better for you soon.

You are going to go to work? You should be resting and drinking water as much as you can. I hope you do not get any worse! Did they do blood tests to see if your kidneys are still fuctioning?
Please take care of yourself!!

Well, crap. I also had this happen when I did stims. The pain is really difficult to endure, as is the bloat, and the many other awful things.
I wish I had a word or two of advice to get through it, but I'm afraid I didn't handle it very well. Perhaps the only thing I can say is: it does eventually go away.
Hope you feel better soon.

Feel better soon, sweetie. Keep up the fluids and try and rest easy.

I'm sorry you are going through this. I had OHSS in '04, I expanded for about 9-10 days. I went back to work after 5 but was still in a lot of pain and found it difficult to breathe. Luckily it was winter and I could wear baggy clothes. Congratulations on the number of egss that fertilsed.

Work? You have to consider going back to work?
Take very good care of yourself, I hope your symptoms diminish soon.

Ack. Can I pull any strings for you so you don't have to go back to work? Please??
Not that you sound much more comfortable at home. Akeeyu, I'm so sorry, I hope you feel some relief soon.

Fucking useless Dr. Dujour can take her ignorant, smug, fatuous, crass, incompetent insensitivity and shove it up her useless fucking ass.
