Weapons of Mass Dumbassery

Recently I was driving behind a car whose bumper sticker went something like this: "Why is there never money for education, but plenty for war?" and I immediately thought "Because you can't scare people into paying for education.  'Johnny can't read,' doesn't strike fear in the hearts of Americans like 'OMG, Terrorists!'  People just don't fear large amounts of Stupid like they should.  Realistically, you're way more likely to be killed by Stupidity than Terrorism."

So true :-)

Well said.

Oh yes.

Apparently you can't scare people into paying for healthcare either (re: SCHIP).

I think that my new favorite sentence in the English language is "people just don't fear large amounts of Stupid like they should."

This is my new favorite entry. I plan on quoting you.

Sad, but true. :(

Yes indeed, "People just don't fear large amounts of Stupid like they should" is my new motto. Like I want to use it as my tagline.

you got it!

*cackle* I see a bumpersticker in your future. Or maybe mine, if I can figure how to have one printed. Applicable across the board. I think Large Amounts of Stupid accounts for much of our current foreign policy, *cough* as well as for acts of personal stupidity.

*links to Akeeyu spring up all over the blogsphere*

*People just don't fear large amounts of Stupid like they should*.....love it. I'm gonna have to use that quote..lol

Yeah, there's got to be a market for cynical bumper stickers out there surely?

And damn, typepad is chucking a total wobbly fit at my perfectly valid (I swear) url. Boo and hiss!

Let me see if I can hide it more discreetly in the url field of the comments section again (where I'd much rather hide it)

Sooooo true!

The truest thing I have read in a LONG time. Bravo!

reminds me of another favorite bumper sticker (on the back of an old car I bought when I was at college in the US), "If you think education is expensive, try ignorance"
